Before taking office, Judge King was a practicing attorney in Jefferson County for 25 years, handling a wide array of cases involving civil litigation.

Having represented plaintiffs, defendants, and serving as corporate counsel, special counsel, and Assistant Attorney General and City Attorney, Judge King practiced in every court from the city, county, state and federal level, giving him vast perspectives and experience.
