Judge King recognized by the American Red Cross,
Birmingham Chapter
On May 5, 2008, Judge King (fourth from the left) received a Certificate of Appreciation for his six years of service as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross, Birmingham Chapter.
Judge King Helps to Honor
Center Point First Lady Betty Shearon Henderson
Judge King joined with The Eastern Women's Committee of Fifty and The Jefferson State Community College Foundation in honoring Betty Shearon Henderson on her selection as the 2008 Women's Archives Recipient.
In his remarks at the program honoring Mrs. Henderson, Judge King praised her on the many ways in which she has contributed to the betterment of Center Point, citing her commitment to excellence and attention to detail. As one example of her service, Judge King spoke about her work in organizing and growing the Center Point Christmas Parade, which last year included more than 250 entries.
The program and a reception honoring Mrs. Henderson were held on March 30, 2008 at Jefferson State Community College, Northeast Campus.

Judge King participates in 10 Christmas Parades
Who doesn't love a parade, and the 2007 Christmas season saw Judge King participating in many of them throughout Jefferson County. "Christmas parades not only show the spirit of the season, but also the spirit of community," says Judge King, "and they provide me with an opportunity to visit in various communities and to show my appreciation."
Vestavia Hills, Homewood, Center Point, Trussville, Fairfield, Gardendale, Leeds, Bessemer, Hueytown, and Tarrant were on Judge King's parade route for 2007. In past years he has also participated in parades in Clay, Argo, Midfield, Adamsville, Pleasant Grove, Kimberly, Pinson, and Graysville.
Judge King speaks to the Leeds-Moody Rotary Club

Judge King gives Veteran's Day addresses in Bessemer and Irondale
A Vietnam veteran, Judge King was the keynote speaker at both the Bessemer and Irondale Veteran's Day celebrations held in November 2007. Applauding city leaders for holding such celebrations, Judge King expressed the importance of realizing how fortunate we are to live in this country and said, "The respect and thanks owed our veterans for serving the nation with distinction must always be remembered."
In a letter to Judge King, James Stewart, President of the Exchange Club of Irondale, thanked Judge King " . . . for an awe-inspiring, soul searching speech that surely motivated us to love our country more, welcome our soldiers back and give them moral and physical support and remember that we live in the best country in the world." Judge King gave the Veteran's Day speech in Irondale at the "One Nation Under God" breakfast, hosted by the Exchange Club.
